Jewbury Medieval Jewish Cemetery is a scheduled ancient monument located in York, Yorkshire, representing one of the few surviving physical remains of medieval Anglo-Jewish life in England. The cemetery dates from the 12th century and served the Jewish community of York until their expulsion from England in 1290. The site comprises an open area of approximately 0.4 hectares within the modern city, marked by the presence of earthworks and archaeological deposits that reflect the burial practices of the medieval period. Jewbury is of particular significance as evidence of Jewish settlement and cultural practice in medieval England, a community that was largely eliminated following the expulsion of 1290 and its associated violent events including the massacre at York Castle in 1190.
