Airigh Allt an Eilein is a shieling settlement located in Perthshire, Scotland. Shielings were temporary pastoral settlements used seasonally by Highland communities, typically during summer months when livestock were moved to upland pasture, a practice known as transhumance that was widespread throughout the Scottish Highlands from the medieval period onwards. The site comprises the remains of stone structures characteristic of such settlements, reflecting the economic and social organisation of Highland pastoral farming. The use of shielings in this region continued into the early modern period before the practice declined with broader changes to Highland land use and society.
